This is our 1/4" shank rotating cutter spring loaded engraving bit. This tool is a better choice than a Drag engraver for certain materials like polycarbonate ( LEXAN ) and Acrylic ( plexiglass ).
This cnc engraving bit is spring loaded so it can compensate for a uneven surface and rotates in the spindle. Since its an actual rotating cutter engraver, it has more robust engraving than a drag engraver.
This bit works great on Acrylic, Polycarbonate, soft material like fiber board, soft metals like 6061 aluminum, brass etc... It comes with a 60deg .3mm tip which is a great general purpose bit for most materials. We also sell 60deg .2mm tip for acrylic and polycarbonate only for slightly finer lines.

1/4" Spring loaded rotating cutter engraving bit
We can't recommed feedrates becasue of the vast differences in materials. Feedrate is dependent on the specific material. We recommend to start slow and increase in increments until you find a good balance. We recommend a max of 3000 RPM on this tool.
If you use on metals that are anodized, if the anodizing is super hard the tips may not penetrate a super hard, thick anodizing. But on 6061 or softer aluminum they work well in most cases with anodized or raw surfaces.
These tips are a wearable item so longetivity will vary depending on material. We recommend using air with this tool. If using on metals a light mist also can be used but may effect cutting depth.
The small set screw is not meant to be loosened to change tips. To change tip remove the rear screw and spring to remove tip. Keep an eye on the set screw to make sure it hasn't come loose with long use over time.
